About the NCNCA
Established in 1964 to promote competitive
grassroots cycling, the non-profit Northern California/Nevada
Cycling Association (NCNCA) is an organization of cycling clubs
that oversees racing in the largest and most vibrant cycling community
in North America. The NCNCA serves as the local representative for
the U.S. Cycling Federation and USA Cycling.
EVENTS
The NCNCA’s annual racing calendar
includes over 150 road, mountain bike, and cyclocross events throughout
the entire year. New in 2005 is the NCNCA Premier Series, which
ties together the marquee road events in the NCNCA territory
and will be promoted centrally by the NCNCA.
TERRITORY
The NCNCA’s territory covers the San
Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Fresno, Reno, Monterey-Salinas-Santa
Cruz, and Chico-Redding areas.
MEMBERSHIP
The NCNCA’s membership consists of
all licensed racers in the Northern California/Nevada district.
In 2006, the NCNCA membership hovered around 4,000 U.S. Cycling
Federation licensees, which made the “state” of Northern
California/Nevada the largest of USA Cycling’s 50 administrative
districts.
GOVERNANCE
The NCNCA is governed by member-elected
Officers,
BOD-appointed positions,
and USA
Cycling staff.
